Sometimes the colors and shapes in themselves present a wonderful image without being a photograph of anything in particular. It can happen on its own or be developed with filters and blending modes in Photoshop.

There are many times in photography when the final image is a wonder all its own. I love these times and I call them "happy accidents" like in watercolor painting. Sometimes impressionistic or inexplicable, the colors and forms often make something wonderful to look at that has a certain mystery within.

My gardens are a "living studio" of subject matter. The growth and development of flowers and plants from day to day is a wonder to behold. The discovery of color and form in this arena is remarkable and even mysterious.The intricate design and color of each individual flower is unbelievable and awesome! Every day is a different photo studio outside and from sunrise to sunset the images can vary. Overcast days present unique opportunity and challenge for images. It is like I am called to "come closer". The little visitors to flowers make wondrous moments of encounter. Butterflies, bees, lady bugs and many other things will appear throughout all season, making all the days different and a wealth of discovery and anticipation. In the colder months, I am working to learn the fine art of indoor/studio photography with flowers. Looking forward to more classes in this area with Better Photo. Enjoy!

The Macro world has unfolded to me in this past year after some wonderful courses with Better Photo and a passion for this subject matter and its intricate and intimate detail has taken me to places and things I have never seen before. The wonder of discovery is not just for small children, and I am ever looking for my next Macro image.
